Woke up really early because we were still on East Coast time. East Coast! ahh, home!
Left Anchorage, went back to the airport to have the RV people come pick us up. But before that ...
Yup another salted caramel cold brew. It's happin' folks. I'm hooked. At least in Alaska that is.
After we picked up our RV we went to Walmart to buy groceries. Tried to think of the two weeks we would be camping and bought enough for the time needed. Somehow donuts, orange soda and cookies were all part of the provisions needed. After that we drove to Girdwood to set up a boon-docking scenario. We camped in an overflow parking lot at the Alyeska Resort with the mountain alongside our "dining room" window. Camping wasn't allowed two weeks ago due to the threat of avalanches. A good bit of snow still covers the mountains. Only one other camper was parked with us.
On the way here we drove down the Seward Highway along the Cook Inlet. Wow, almost eerie. The mountains on both sides of the two lane highway and the water to our right. It was a very windy and chilly day.
The mud flats were calling me, but signs advised not to tread. I'd probably get sucked down into quicksand for the desire to take home some mud for a nice facial. Remember the Ice-fields Parkway Taylee? When we put our feet in that icy cold water and wanted to go back for some glacier mud, but could never find the same place?
Tonight we had chicken, mashed potatoes and salad. Not bad camping food.
Tomorrow, we plan on going down the Kenai Peninsula. We plan on spending several day in that area.
Stopped in Whittier for a cup of coffee and Wi-fi.Blue ice. bluetiful! 💖 I spotted 3 Bald Eagles on our drive down to Whittier. So inspiring!
We have no internet so my posts or even texts may not go through or even come through to me. So I will post when I can. Dad /Evan and I are having a great time despite this really nasty cold, sheets of rain and windy weather today. As I sit here I'm watching the Alaska ferry come in.
Love you all from so far away!
