May 25th HOMER

Got my Halibut and saw a moose on the way to Homer

Homer, Alaska the Halibut Capital of the world. When the fishing season begins their will be combat fishing, people standing shoulder to shoulder catching a limit of two fish hoping they are big ones. Spending two days here in a pretty amazing place. Sitting right at the edge of Kachemak Bay just down from the Cook Inlet. An absolutely beautiful part of the world. Bald Eagles fly by like they own the place. Evan saw one on the way down try to pluck a Loon right off the water. Thankfully the Loon made a dive confusing the hungry eagle as he missed a tasty meal.
This is where we are camping for two nights. Tomorrow we will take a Plane to Seldovia. The only way to get there is by boat or plane. Fun fact: 35% of men in Alaska have their pilots licence. Planes and boats are a way of life up here. no roads, no problem.

Taking an early morning gander at the mountains surrounding this place. Truly pictures do not do it justice. This place is amazing. Got my ball cap!
In a couple of hours we get on a plane and take a ride to a more remote place.

Yesterday on our way to Homer we stopped at this overlook. took a short walk and had our lunch on the top of these cliffs overlooking  the Kachemak Bay. We are in the same place where the Kilchers live that do that reality show called "Alaska, the Last Frontier" or something like that.

What beautiful views. Nothing like fresh fish, but I know Evan can't appreciate that. Glad you are seeing so many wonderful things.

Awesome Sharon did you catch the fish when you said you got your Halibut or just eat it fresh?

So luckily you saw your moose. I was looking for a moose the whole time when we were out northwest and never saw one. 😩
