October 14, 2021 Breakfast and a short drive to the longest covered bridge

First overcast and a little sprinkle of rain, but all in all a wonderful day so far.

Breakfast in a very highly recommended place. They said to expect a wait time of two hours so we left at 6:30 and got there when they opened. We were seated right away. Tried something I've never tried before, Maple spread. Made with maple syrup and heavy whipping cream. Pretty darn good. I will try to make it when I get home.
As we drive back we stumbled upon this camp. 70 cabins, a bakery on site along with a huge events hall.
Most of the cabins were totally screened in with tarps you could unroll. Very rustic and very quant.
Drove to Bath to the longest covered bridge.

This was the oldest General Store in America, but due to Covid closed their doors 2 years ago. VERY sad! And now they can't fine enough workers to open. TY government for paying people not to work! Thats my only Op-Ed.

As we ready to leave, we say goodbye to great memories and wonderful time.
May the Lord bless our return trip tomorrow.

Wednesday October 13, 2021 Cannon Tram

Had a slow morning and left for our tram ride at 11.

Up the Cannon Mountain.

If I can be obsessed about anything, besides my sweet grands its pine trees with pinecones. Not just any pine tree, subalpines are my favorite and if they have a cluster of pine cones all the better.
We took a picnic lunch and ate it overlooking the mountains and surrounded by these beauties.

North New Hampshire is so beautiful.
We truly hit the peak of color. Wayne and Pepper have been great traveling companions.
Our lunch spot.

Evan and Wayne climbing the tower for a panoramic view.
Not sure what the plans are for tomorrow, but its our last day before we venture home.

Tuesday Day 3 October 12. At the House and adventures beyond

Today was a fairly long driving day as we set off on the adventure of discovery. Covered bridges, beautiful leaves, gorgeous weather and great company.

Evan pointing to another beautiful tree! "ABT" Never get tired at finding another one, or two or a hill full.
Pepper and Wayne. Our exploring partners.
Autumn COLOR

Every bridge is numbered. I think there are 30 some in this relatively small state. Each one as charming as the other. Some we could drive through, others we walked through. But I think we walked through them all.

We left the house close to 10:30 and started driving. Way up to the top of New
Hampshire. Quebec was just within spitting distance. However, if you could spit that far Guinness Book of World Records wants you. Actually no more than 1/2 hour drive time. It was a long day driving but we all enjoyed the beauty of the area, iconic covered bridges and fresh pine scented air to invigorate the soul and awaken the scenes.

Tomorrow a tram up a mountain!!!

Monday, Day 2 October 11 New Hampshire and an Airb&b Littleton, NH

The house was perfect. Checked in at 3pm after a wonderful day driving through Vermont and New Hampshire. We met Pepper and Wayne at the house on Monday.
The owners showed up to let us in with a bottle of wine as a welcome gift .A rather lovely gesture if you ask me! The owners husband has a vineyard in Malan, Italy where they live part of the year. These windows overlook the lake which is just in front of the house.

Living area. But we never sit there because the porch invites us out whenever we are here. There is a big dining table on the porch which we eat all our meals.

Taking our cocktails before dinner up to the boathouse roof.
Pepper and Wayne joining us for our time here. What fun to share this with good friends.
The view from the top deck of the boat house.
Cheers!!!

New Hampshire fall trip October 10, 2021

As we drove through the NY area I was a little disappointed the leaves were not in peak color and I thought I might have missed the time to go. But as we drove further up the more color we saw.  We spent the first night in Lebanon, NH just over the border from Vermont.

First stop Vermont. Here is where the leaves showed some color.

Just had to stop at King Arthur Baking Company on our way through Vermont.. Thinking I could get 50 lbs of organic bread flour. Yet, if I was willing to spend $100. I could have brought home 50 lbs but I was not willing to spend $100 on something I could buy at Wegmans for $60 for the same amount or $40 at Amazon. It's good to know prices I guess. But it was hugely fun seeing them bake the bread through a large viewing area with clear clean glass. Everything baking could be found and I was in baking heaven. Although my pocketbook and my furgelness left me wanting.

Nothing says fall like leaves floating from the trees in haphazard manner.

This house is typical up here. The house and barn were often attached so when the cold and snow came the farmer could just walk through the house to attend to the animals.
Every covered bridge we passed we walked across.

On to New Hampshire!
