quiet thoughts

Everyone is gone for the moment and it is quiet except for the whirring of the nearby fan. Every once in awhile I like it. Peaceful, still, and quite relaxing. No one is asking me at the moment to fix them something to eat or have I seen a particular object that was lying there just a minute ago. No one is calling my name from the other room and no one needs me to do anything for them. Yet in some, perhaps sick way, I miss the confusion, busyness and activity. Raising a busy family has been a joy. In a vapor of time their lives have become their own and my roll has dramatically changed.
When they were young, I never in a million years would have believed when someone said I would wish those years. Now, I can see with clarity the brevity of time.

I look forward to the future with gladness as I will experience wonderful times with my adult children, and theirs. With joy I will take as much time with them as I am allowed. To see my children walking with their Savior is a delight beyond measure. To see them wrestle with the issues of their time and see clearly from a biblical world view is more than I deserve. I clearly live a blessed life and I count it all joy.
I love you Tyler and Elea, Gavin, Austin and Stephanie, Carson and Taylee. You all bring me such pleasure. And because of God's extreme blessing in my life, he graciously gave me your father who has walked this journey with me for more than 33 years and has been my faithful partner in this life called a family.

Done

Taylee is moved into her freshly painted room. She loves the color and I love the uncluttered look. I have decided the more things I put in there the more things get covered and piled upon. We shall keep it simple and perhaps she will keep it straight. I don't go to the mat on mess very often so there is less stuff.
I truly think I am finished painting. I can successfully turn a blind eye to anything else that could use a coat of paint.

Looking forward to our family vacation this year. St. Michael's is such a lovely place to explore on bikes. It's flat and you can usually find a road that follows the bay shore line. I hope to do a lot of just R&R. I won't be looking around for a room to paint or a room to rearrange. Things will be pretty much chill. I am really looking forward in having my married sons join us later in the week. I am also looking forward to have the Hendricks down. What fun we will have. We will laugh ...a lot! We will share our lives for a few glorious days. I feel so blessed they are coming. I am going to ask Scott and Gavin to fix us a firehouse dinner one night. We are going to have a blast!

Painting...again

I live to paint, or at least it seems so. I am now painting Taylee's "new" room. She is taking over her big brother Austin's room. In my opinion there is no room for the sentimental. Austin either takes his stuff or up in the attic it goes. This room has more light and more importantly it does not have vents that allow her to eavesdrop on hushed conversations below in the living room. I am writing this blog because it is ridiculously hot up there. With no air conditioner it is warm. Ha, warm, warm. Okay, it's hot! Hot, hot. It's funny that this room has been occupied by Mom and Dad, Gavin, Austin and Carson and now Taylee. I believe Tyler never made this room his. Correct me if i am wrong. It has been papered, painted several times, and now painted once again. PINK!... Pink, pink.
Well, up I must go. Prep work is the worst, but I truly rejoice that I have the skills to do the work myself. Saves lots of moolaa.
Oh by the way...the money I saved on labor I spent in a speeding ticket. I will go to court and plead the mercy of the judge. I'll be sure to take Taylee with me. Maybe she can peel an onion just before we go in. Get my drift?

Can I sit Down Now?

We have been working hard, something Evan and I can do on a regular basis, and I think it is high time to sit down. We have been working on the apartment in our basement for weeks/months now, and we are almost finished stage 1. Stage 2 is to complete the bathroom, which by the way, we have decided to tile. A little more work, but a whole lot more attractive and it will give the little room a bit more room.

Just FYI...by next summer we will be sailing on the Chesapeake Bay cuz we are buying a sailboat...Lord willing. It is something we have dreamed about probably since we were married. We have a little rule that we should put a want on a list for 6 months before we purchase something. I think 33 years is long enough don't you? It will be something we can share with our family and friends. And just maybe, we won't feel the need to do projects all the time if we're cruising the bay.

We shall see!

to my faithful single reader

Your help last night; was very much appreciated. I am still not completely satisfied with my background, but I will continue to work on it as time allows. Also, I want to thank you again for my Mac. I really enjoy using it and it will be quite helpful when I learn how to put my pictures on my blog.
Today, Dad and Gavin are putting down the flooring in the basement and I am working for Shirley.
Don't forget to give me a date for the snow crab leg party. Austin's good on most weekends. We will need to check with Gavin's schedule.
Love you,
Mom

to be faithful

It is time to be faithful. Faithful to God, faithful to my friends and faithful to myself.
I want to be faith filled!
Amen
