We woke up to another 3 inches of fresh snow and a new plan for the next few days. We asked our camp host her opinion of the mountain passes and she advised we not travel over the mountain until tomorrow. This is Evan getting all the new snow off the camper to alleviate some of the weight for travel.
In Europe when people show you their pictures they say, "ABC" which means "Another Beautiful Church. We will say, ABL, Another Beautiful Lake. Filled with clear water, fresh lake trout and other wonderful things. The view! Almost eerie because it's SO big and vast.
We drove up to Leadville. Evan always stops and looks at the Real Estate office windows to see property values in the area. No worries, we are not thinking of moving. We have to much at home we cherish. FAMILY!!! And babies. And friends. And a lovely home. He still finds it fun to look.
Leadville sits 10,100 feet above sea level.
It's an old mining town, quite a bustling place in the 1860's. Men worked very hard and long hours in a dark, dusty and dirty place. Crawling 500 feet below the earth for $2 a day. That's around $62 per week in todays money. We visited the Mining Museum and learned so much. Think about it...EVERYTHING we have comes from the earth and has to be mined to use. Mind blowing!
These are some picture of the abandoned buildings in the town of Twin Lakes.
We drove "home" to check out tomorrows weather. We plan on going to the Great Sand Dunes tomorrow. But...plans can change.
Tonight's menu... hamburgers cooked by Evan. home grown potatoes and salad.
It was a good day overall!
Tomorrow Great Sand Dunes...that is unless it snows again tonight.

The mining town gives me Poldark feels! Although it's not in Cornwall. Hopefully the snow melts enough for you all to continue your journey!!
Also glad to hear you won't be looking for houses out there. You're right, guys have too many little babies that'll need to be loved on for you to move! Although with all this snow you might be forced to move into one of those little homesteads to weather it out haha!
Taylee, we are good right here. The camper is cozy and warm. Praise God!
I am enjoying your writing and pictures. You truly are an excellent writer Sharon. Miss you!
